Kaneka held Miss Kanekalon 2018 in Nigeria

Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mamoru Kadokura) held the finals of the hair beauty pageant “Miss Kanekalon 2018” in Lagos, the largest city in Federal Republic of Nigeria (hereinafter, Nigeria) in July 2018. This event is a hair-style contest using synthetic hair braids made of modacrylic fiber which is produced and sold by Kaneka (product name: Kanekalon™).

The pageant started in 2015 and invites participants from Republic of Ghana in addition to Nigeria with a mission of supporting dreams of young African women who are enthusiasts of Kanekalon hair braids. 20 finalists out of the 3,400 applicants who won through auditions gathered and went to the finals after one week of training and lessons.

The finals were gorgeous with a show presenting the latest hair styles which could be materialized by product features of Kanekalon™ such as fire-resistance, easiness of braiding and flexibility and a concert by a popular singer in addition to the judgment of the contest. There were more than 800 visitors including hair stylists, owners of beauty salons, persons from the hair industry, related companies manufacturing hair products using Kanakalon, news media, guests selected from general consumers coming to the event.

The winner, Miss. Stephany Iloabachi, will play the Kanekalon™ ambassador for the next one year and work in various fields including the media such as SNS.

Kanekalon™ has been loved by African women including Nigeria since 1987 and recognized as the No.1 brand. Kaneka will further enhance the level of brand recognition by active and continuous information transmission through this kind of events and media.
