Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mamoru Kadokura) exhibited “Kaneka Biodegradable Polymer PHBH” (“PHBH”) at the International Media Center *1 of the G20 Osaka Summit while providing garbage bags and cutlery *2 used at the site.

The Japanese cutting-edge technologies and efforts to the environmental issues were introduced to the international press at the International Media Center of the G20 Osaka Summit. In our booth, we exhibited various molded articles such as spoons and folks made of PHBH and the samples that showed biodegradability in the seawater. Among our products made of PHBH, compostable garbage bags and cutlery were actually used on the site.

Prior to that, we also attended the “G20 Innovation Exhibition”, which was held in Karuizawa from June 14 to 16 in conjunction with the “G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth and provided the name card cases made of PHBH for the parties concerned of the meeting.

Kaneka has pursued business for people to live a healthy and vibrant life from many different aspects, proposing solutions against global environmental issues with unique products. PHBH is 100% plant-based biodegradable polymer developed by Kaneka, and it offers excellent biodegradability under different environmental conditions. Particularly in recent years, marine pollution by micro-plastics has been a global social issue, raising concerns about possible effects on the ecosystems. PHBH obtained the “OK Biodegradable MARINE *3” certification that guarantees biodegradability in seawater. With PHBH, Kaneka will contribute to reducing marine pollutions.
