Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Minoru Tanaka) will increase the sales prices of liquid sodium hydroxide by at least 20 JPY per kilogram (dry base) for shipments on and after November 1.

Domestic demand for sodium hydroxide has been strong despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and demand has remained at a higher level than the previous year. Overseas, as well, demand is growing, led by demand for use in alumina refining and viscose fiber manufacturing in India and Southeast Asia. Due to the tightening of the balance of supply and demand, the price of sodium hydroxide has continually risen overseas.

In Kaneka's sodium hydroxide business, product costs have risen due to increases in power costs resulting from the rapidly rising price of fuel and logistics costs, together with higher manufacturing equipment repair and updating costs.

Due to these situations, Kaneka has determined that the price revision is necessary to fulfill our responsibility of providing a steady supply of products to our customers in Japan.
