T-Green Multi Solar (See-Through Type), developed through a partnership between Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Minoru Tanaka) and Taisei Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshiro Aikawa), was awarded of the Good Design Awards 2021, sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.

“T-Green Multi Solar (See-Through Type)”is photovoltaic power generation glass having stripes of photovoltaic cells encapsulated between laminated glass, developed for power generation on the vertical walls of buildings. It offers a high level of transparency and high power generation, as well as a simple design with high design quality. It is highly durable and maintenance-free, capable of generating power for over 30 years, so it can be used in a variety of buildings.

Society is calling for more widespread use of renewable energy in order to achieve carbon neutrality. T-Green Multi Solar was chosen for the Good Design Award in recognition of the fact that it can be installed as architectural glass in existing buildings and does not severely impact window functionality. This makes it a practical option that is easy to use. It was also recognized for its shading and insulating performance and its ability to function as an emergency power source in the event of a disaster.

Kaneka Corporation and Taisei Corporation aim to make further major contributions to the realization of low-carbon society by actively promoting the use of T-Green Multi Solar to construct mid-sized and high-rise ZEBs in urban areas, as well as using it to meet the needs for independent power sources in the event of natural disasters and resulting long-term power outages.
