Notice Regarding the Effects of the 2011 Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake

We extend our deepest condolences to the victims of the 2011 Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake, which struck on March 11, 2011. This notice describes the effects this earthquake has had on our group at the present moment.

NOTICE

1. Extent of effects
Our Kashima Plant (Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture) has stopped operation due to utility supply problems,etc. At the present moment there are no effects on personnel, but there has been damage to one part of the facility and we are investigating the details.

In addition, areas near the affected area are subject to planned blackouts as a result of the earthquake, so some of our consolidated subsidiary companies have stopped operation.

Our group has set up a Tohoku Kanto Earthquake Disaster Task Force inside the company and is working to collect information and restore the situation, with its highest priority placed on saving lives and keeping people safe.

2. Effects on business
The effects of this earthquake on our business and the cost of damages are not yet clear at the present moment, but we will inform promptly if we foresee any major impacts.
