Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuhiko Fujii) will launch “Susumu Chikara Lemon Myrtle Drink, Refreshing Citrus Flavor,” jointly developed with the General Incorporated Association Japan Walking Association (*1), through its group company, Kaneka Foods Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Futoshi Fukuzaki), on Monday, September 28.

This health drink contains casuarinin, a compound derived from lemon myrtle (*2), which Kaneka has studied for more than 10 years. Easy to incorporate into daily health routines before or after light exercise or walking, it offers “A New Daily Habit for Walkers.” Based on feedback from members of the Japan Walking Association, the product features a refreshing citrus flavor. It is the first beverage jointly developed with the Japan Walking Association.

As interest in healthy life expectancy grows, walking and taking strolls have become increasingly common as forms of exercise that can be easily incorporated into everyday life (*3). Meanwhile, a survey conducted by Kaneka found that people in their 30s to 70s who walk regularly are conscious of a lack of exercise and maintaining their physical fitness (*4). Against this background, Kaneka and the Japan Walking Association worked together to develop a product that supports daily health routines.

Casuarinin derived from lemon myrtle is a type of polyphenol extracted from lemon myrtle, an herb native to Australia. Kaneka identified this component while researching more than 200 types of plants and has continued its research for more than 10 years.

Based on our mission of KANEKA thinks “Wellness First”, we are working to promote comprehensive health, including nutrition and exercise. We will continue to contribute to people’s health and rich dietary lives by expanding products and services that can be easily incorporated into daily health routines.
