Dialogue with the Labor Union

The Kaneka Labor Union has established joint labor-management objectives and concluded a collective agreement.
Based on a relationship of mutual trust, the collective agreement sets forth the standards for matters subject to discussion, and the bodies and procedures for consultation. We engage in constructive dialogue on a range of issue, including fostering understanding of and alignment with management policies and improving working conditions.
The central labor-management dialogue was held 12 times in FY2024, addressing a range of issues, including safety and health, workstyle reforms such as reducing total actual working hours, and confirming that all employees meet the standard living wage agreed upon by labor and management. At business sites and workplace labor-management meetings, we also continue to engage in dialogue aimed at creating a healthy, comfortable, and rewarding work environment.
At each workplace, the Health and Safety Committee meets monthly and includes representatives from the labor union.
Kaneka employs a union shop system, and all regular employees except those in manager positions are members of the Kaneka Labor Union.
As of March 31, 2025, the union had 2,898 members.
At the central, business sites, and workplace levels, two types of meetings are held as follows:

  • Labor-Management Consultation Meeting: Broadly exchange views on a range of issues to achieve shared labor-management goals.
  • Labor-Management Council: Establish agreements on systems, working conditions, and their implementation.
